Linea Interior Design ? Making The World A More Beautiful Place One Room At A Time
Linea Interior Design, Inc. ? The Philosophy. Linea Interior Design believes that your home is your external heart and that the process of defining personal style follows the same path as the process of self-discovery. Melissa is an expert guide, coach and director to those who are on this journey to create their ideal home. Her team ensures that each project receives the highest level of customization and attention to detail. Melissa enjoys working with busy people and dedicates her efforts to making the home a haven from the daily grind. From designing an empty space to simply adding finishing touches, Linea makes the world a more beautiful place, one room at a time.
Design ? A Family Tradition Like her great-grandfather, famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Melissa has an insatiable appetite for life and expresses herself through the creation of personalized environments. Raised by a single, working mother, the late Academy Award-winning actress Anne Baxter, Melissa learned that with focus and determination, every problem has a solution. She often solves problems for her clients and keeps them from obsessing over a project by saying, ?remember decorate for living, don?t live to decorate!? Another great influence for Melissa was her Godmother, acclaimed costumer Edith Head. These special people from her past inspire Melissa because they earned respect for their creative genius and for doing what they loved.
Featured Interiors With clients throughout the Southeast, Linea Interior Design is known for creating casually elegant, classically tailored interiors. Often based on art, these spaces are customized to reflect the individuality of their clientele, busy professionals with passionate lives. The company has participated in several Designer Showhouses, including the Masters Collection Tour of Homes and the Symphony Decorator?s Showhouse, the Atlanta Home Show and at the ACC Craft Show. During 2002 and 2003 Melissa and her team created the Library and Master Bath at the Great Oaks Showhouse, designed the Library at Christmas at Callanwolde and completed the Teenage Retreat for the Roswell Women?s Showcase Home.
Designing a Career Melissa has made the South her home for the last 15 years, but was raised on the West Coast and educated in the North East. Melissa received a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel administration from Cornell University. After the frozen years in beautiful upstate New York, she began a career in hospitality purchasing. Melissa honed her buying skills because in a hotel if you ate it, drank it, slept on it, or wrote with it, she bought it! This experience provided her with invaluable resourcing and broad business capabilities.
Hotel careers require frequent relocation. Melissa launched her purchasing career in Ryetown, New York, moving quickly to Philadelphia and enjoying a summer on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Then, she worked in Charlotte, Birmingham, and the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. While the newness of each position and locale was appealing, Melissa was frustrated by the lack of overall creativity. And so while working at Callaway Gardens, in Columbus, GA, she decided to return to school for a degree in interior design, pursuing a long simmering creative passion.
With a genuine talent in space planning and materials selections, she often freelanced with retail clients while working for an architectural firm and Steelcase Dealership. Through her work with a prominent furniture retailer in Atlanta, Melissa soon realized that she could deliver a broader range of design options as an independent and her company was born.
As Linea Evolves, Lifetime Clients Remain the Standard. Melissa believes in building lifelong client relationships and in some cases her clients have become her family. She knew she was in the right business when at the close of her very first project the client said, ?you knew where I was going even before I did!? Melissa often remains the voice of calm when her clients come up with unusual requests and she insists that everything is possible.
Originally incorporated as Lifestyle Interiors in 1994, the company was renamed Linea Interior Design, Inc. in 1998 to reflect a more global and multicultural approach. The company signature is to create interiors with a collected mood, that appear to have evolved over time, and offer a personal eclectic feel.
Passion for Sharing Knowledge In addition to running her company, Melissa has hosted a successful series of Evening at Emory classes for the last decade including Decorating Basics, Gallery Hopping, Great Design Sources for Decorating, Interior Design as a Second Career, and Change Your Interiors, Change Your Life. She also launched an exclusive private certification program for decorators providing the real nitty gritty of the design business. Melissa also consults and speaks to civic, business, and social groups about art and design. She and her company have been profiled locally in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Points North, Jewish Times Expressions, and most recently in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles. Melissa has also made a number of appearances on local news and lifestyle television including Peachtree Morning and Good Day Atlanta Noonday with a host of design tips. She is recognized and often called upon for her knowledge of trends and resources. Nationally, she has appeared in Better Homes and Gardens, House of Business, PlanHouse, Southern Living and Georgia Living. |
